Teaching basic Sanskrit can be a rewarding endeavor. Sanskrit is not only an ancient and culturally rich language but also the foundation of many modern languages in the Indian subcontinent.

Welcome to our Geeta Temple for learning basic Sanskrit! Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to brush up on your Sanskrit skills, our temple offers comprehensive resources and interactive lessons to help you master the fundamentals of this ancient language.

Sanskrit is typically written in the Devanagari script. It’s a phonetic script, meaning each character represents a specific sound.

We teach following in Basic Sanskrit:

  • Familiarize yourself with the characters and their sounds.
  • Pronunciation
  • Practice pronouncing each sound clearly.
  • Basic Vocabulary
  • Spend some time practicing writing the Devanagari script and pronouncing the sounds. You can find worksheets online or use apps that teach Sanskrit.
  • Practice writing the Devanagari script for each vowel and consonant multiple times.
  • Practice pronouncing the vowels and consonants individually and then in combination with each other.
  • Try to greet someone using Sanskrit words you've learned.
